Pitztal Mountain Advent

Peace instead of bustle: Advent in the snowy mountain village of Plangeross – right outside Sonnblick’s door.

The Pitztal Mountain Advent

The run-up to Christmas as it should be

The Pitztal Mountain Advent (Pitztaler Bergadvent) combines pre-Christmas atmosphere with Alpine nature. Peace and contemplation instead of hustle and bustle shape the atmosphere around the Advent village of Plangeross.

If you like the run-up to Christmas cosy and quiet, you are in the right place here. Traditional customs and authentic Alpine Christmas traditions are writ large: singing carols, enjoying regional specialities and listening to contemplative concerts – Advent in the Pitztal is balm for eyes and ears.

Wintry landscapes, festive lights and traditional music capture the spirit of the Christmas season. And the best part: Sonnblick is right in the middle of Plangeross – the next Advent window is just a few steps through the snow.

Chapter I · The Advent village

A village as an Advent calendar

A window opens every evening

In Plangeross a whole village becomes a living Advent calendar. From 1 December to Christmas a different house opens its Advent window every day. The host family invites you to homemade specialities, punch and mulled wine.

This old tradition brings guests and locals together – a lovely opportunity to enjoy the festive atmosphere in the snowy mountain village.

Handmade in the valley

At the small but fine Advent market in Plangeross, local artisans offer handmade gifts and decorations – from wooden stars and lanterns to knitted hats.

Perhaps you will find a Christmas present or two here.

“And when it gets dark outside, the cosiest part of the day begins.”

After the Advent window, back into the warm house: regional cuisine in our GenussWerkstatt, a glass of wine at the GoldBar – and outside the village glows.
