Since January 2025 GenussHotel Sonnblick has held the Austrian Ecolabel. Here we explain what the quality label means – and what we do in concrete terms in everyday hotel life.
What is the Austrian Ecolabel?
The Austrian Ecolabel (Österreichisches Umweltzeichen) is a government quality label. For tourism businesses there is a defined catalogue of criteria, covering energy, water, waste, purchasing and cleaning, among other things. An independent body checks whether a business meets these criteria – only then may the label be awarded.
You can find all the criteria in detail on the official website umweltzeichen.at (in German).
What we do at Sonnblick in concrete terms
- Energy & water: we use energy and water sparingly. We generate part of our electricity ourselves with our photovoltaic system.
- Cleaning: our cleaning products are certified with recognised eco-labels such as the EU Ecolabel.
- Buying locally: in the GenussWerkstatt we prefer seasonal products from partners in the Pitztal and Tyrol.
- Waste: we avoid waste wherever possible and separate it consistently for recycling.
- Getting around without a car: the ski bus stops right at the hotel and takes you to the Pitztal Glacier in around 5 minutes – free of charge with a valid ski pass.
- Our team: fair, appreciative working conditions for our local and international staff.
We are also a member of the Climate Alliance Tyrol (Klimabündnis Tirol).
What does this mean for your holiday?
You do not have to do without comfort: the measures run in the background of our everyday hotel life. If you like, you can do your bit – for example by taking the ski bus instead of the car in winter. And you notice the regional purchasing directly on your plate.
Find out more: you can find all measures, our suppliers and partners and further links on our Austrian Ecolabel page.
