The Pitztal is a true hiking paradise. Whether a leisurely stroll, a scenic family hike or a challenging summit tour – everyone will find the right route here. The impressive mountain world offers the right hiking experience for every fitness level and every taste.

Here are five different hiking highlights for you. Get inspired and discover the diversity of our valley – for unforgettable nature experiences and true moments of happiness in the Tyrolean mountains.

1. Hikes for families

Children love discovering nature through play. In the Pitztal there are numerous hikes that are perfectly suited to families and combine nature with adventure.

One highlight is the Sagenweg (legends trail). On this varied themed trail you reach the Gletscherstube in a relaxed way. Along the way, various stations tell exciting stories from the mysterious world of Pitztal legends.

If you want to learn more about local nature, pay a visit to the ZirbenPark. On the family-friendly circular trail everything revolves around the Swiss stone pine – the “queen of the Alps”. Exciting adventure stations share interesting facts about this special tree and make the hike a varied outing for the whole family.

2. Alpine pasture hikes

Whether as a leisurely stop along the way or as the crowning finale of a hike – the charming alpine huts in the Pitztal invite you to linger and enjoy. Surrounded by the impressive mountains, you can let the peace of nature work its magic and experience warm Tyrolean hospitality.

Look forward to regional specialities, homemade delicacies and terraces with fantastic views. Every alpine pasture hike becomes a special treat for body and soul.

3. Hikes with lift support

Would you like to make the ascent a little easier? Then use the Pitztal mountain lifts and start your mountain experience in a relaxed way. Whether a hike around the Rifflsee or a scenic ridge walk on the Hochzeiger – the lifts bring the most beautiful spots of the Pitztal mountains a good deal closer.

An absolute highlight is the ride on the Wildspitzbahn. It takes you up to an impressive 3,440 metres above sea level. From Café 3.440 or the spectacular viewing platform, a breathtaking panorama opens up over the surrounding 3,000-metre peaks and the fascinating world of glaciers.

Tip: with the Pitztal Summer Card you can use one of the summer lifts free of charge every day – as a guest at Hotel Sonnblick or B&B Elisabeth you receive the card at check-in from June to October.

4. Mountain lakes & waterfalls

Suddenly it gets loud and the water plunges into the valley with impressive force. Roaring waterfalls are among the most spectacular natural sights in the Pitztal – it is not for nothing that the region is also known as the valley of waterfalls.

The many mountain lakes present themselves quite differently. Crystal-clear water, the imposing mountain backdrop and the soothing silence make them special places of energy. Whether for a leisurely break, a picnic or simply to pause – here you can enjoy the beauty of nature and recharge your batteries.

5. Summit tours

For many hikers a summit cross is simply part of it. In the Pitztal numerous summit tours await you – from leisurely hikes to demanding alpine challenges.

Besides the Wildspitze, the highest mountain in North Tyrol, experienced mountaineers will find many other impressive peaks that reward them with spectacular views. But families and leisurely hikers get their money’s worth too: several summit crosses can be reached on easy paths and offer unforgettable mountain experiences for young and old.

Whichever summit you choose – breathtaking panoramic views, unspoilt nature and the indescribable feeling of having reached the top are always included.
